Heat of the Moment

I never really thought I'd be actually turning this blog in to movie review, or more precisely a Korean dramas review blog. However, I enjoy doing it, so? The drama I'm gonna be blogging about today is "When A Man Loves" (now re-read the title together with the tune in your head...hahaha).

When A Man Loves

I've never really watched a drama or movie, of which the focus of the entire movie was on a love triangle. For most of the movies that I've watched, the love triangle was pretty much a sub-theme, and even for movies that focused on marital problems, I can only think of two movies that I've watched and they were both English movies. So here's the Korean take on this issue. My reaction to it? Well, as usual, they open up many exit doors along the way of the drama, but usually end up in a common way. However I always appreciate the journey of any movie or drama, and I give credit to the journey and not judge the drama based solely on the ending. For this drama the journey was pretty good. The girl was pretty much two-timing and honestly if I was the (I shall refer to the guys as Original BF and Intruder BF) Original BF, I wouldn't actually know how to react to the scene of me catching my girlfriend doing "something" with another guy - Intruder BF. 

And for all these how-to-react moments, I think the director's take on it was pretty interesting. Also, as the title of this blog, I think the strongest message that came out of from this drama (I'm assuming the director/writer is trying to stress on it) is that don't over react in the heat of the moment, be it a good event or bad, even if it seems like that is the best thing to do at the moment. If you have actually done something, take some time off, cool down and re-approach the situation. It will all seem better (well, at least that's what the drama is trying to say). Do I feel that's true? As of now, I'm not sure because I'm a person who doesn't look back at my decisions, especially if I gave it some thought before doing it. Hence, I do not re-approach problems. Perhaps one day the circumstances in my life will change and I will have a different take on this. 

Besides trying to "calm down before doing stupid things", I also got this from the drama: "If you don't know what you want, you will lose even what you have". That wasn't a quote from the drama. I just came up with it as a summary. There were many other love-life quotes used on the "chalk board" which were quite beautiful, but I'm not gonna talk about it here. So, anyway set your priorities straight and aim for your objective in life. Everybody has one, even if you think you don't. Your life principles and morals will change along the way, and its affected by your social circle, conditioning of your childhood, and your current circumstances. However, when you have a fixed goal to achieve, the journey doesn't really matter anymore. Please do notice how my "the journey is important" principal changed as quickly as from the beginning of this blog towards the end. There are many paths to the mountain top anyway.

Its impressive to see how low or how far a human being can go in getting what they want. I think the Koreans do a good job in highlighting this fact in most Korean dramas. But I guess that fact is true even in real life. But who are we to judge another person by the way they live their lives. We are all hypocrites, we are all sinners. So do your best in living this life well, and all the best in achieving your life goal.

I'm Just A Stranger Without You, My Love

Here we are again, after yet another Korean Drama; Dr Stranger.

Well, for starters, Jae Hee had more protective instincts than Dr. Park. Sigh, How sad. A million times he promised to protect her, but, just a disappointing human being till the end. Hahaha. Otherwise, Jae Joon is kinda hot, I wonder whyy almost all the girls in the story went for him (well i know it's for obvious reasons, but still), and, sorry, I don't like Dr. Oh, for plenty of reasons I won't really discuss here. But my hatred for her reduced a little towards the end where she actually felt bad for confessing her feelings to him, of which, Thank God he didn't even blink, because I totally wouldn't approve of it. 

Erm, I changed my mind. I will, tell you why I hate her haha. Well, its nothing personal. I'm just referring to the character trying to be portrayed. Her character represents the spineless human beings, attracted to new things. It was really hurtful (for her) when Jae Joon used the "new purse" metaphor, but its true. Shes just a circumstantial lover till the end. When everything seemed good with Dr Park in the beginning, she fell for him. In the end, when Jae Joon came back and the circumstances changed around her, and hence she holds his hand in the last few scenes. Pfffft. Disappear please. Plus, I don't really like her lips. Its annoying. From the side angle, she has awesome hair, but otherwise nothing much. 

Lol, why I wasted to much words talking about Dr Oh. Anyways, overall for the drama, it was really good for the first half, but then the early second half till the resolution, kinda got boring due to the repetition of "surgery competitions" (end-lesssss). But the resolution of the story and individual character progress was rather good in the end. I forgave them for the first time they used the Epic-Bridge-Separation in the drama, but it was so disappointing to see them use the similar imagery for the climax.

Don't worry my love, I won't leave without saying a few words about you. Jae Hee (Jin Se-Yeon), of course. I fell in love with her during Inspiring Generation. I hate her new haircut, but her smile just totally seals the deal. Okayyy. A few epic scenes of hers:

Its amazing how after every time he fails to protect her, she still runs with him when he suggests that they should. So much faith, so much love; am I jealous? Pffft NO. Anyway, I had a good time and I enjoyed the show. See ya!
